Photos from Zayan’s 2nd birthday bash

Though late, as promised, here are photos from Zayan’s birthday party.  It was small party, just among family.

A belated Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha

Dear all,

It’s kinda late.  Still, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all Muslims a Selamat HAri Raya Aidiladha.

This special day fell on Friday, 27th November 2009.  Aidiladha refers to great sacrifice.  It commemorates the willingness of Nabi Ibrahim (a.k.a Prophet Abraham) to sacrifice his son, Ismail.

More on this special day here.

Zayan had a blast on his birthday …

Yup, we decided to have a party for Zayan on Sunday.

It was a simple party.  We served fried mee hoon, fried kuey teow, fried chicken, doughnuts, brownies, chicken nuggets, and chips.

Hubby ordered a birthday cake with a picture of ultraman flying.  We always buy birthday cakes from a particular cake shop in SS19 Subang Jaya.  It’s called Savanna.  They bake tasty cakes with beautiful cartoons drawn on them.

We knew that he was excited coz:

  1. he didn’t take his afternoon nap
  2. he made us sing him the birthday song more than 5 times
  3. he blew the candle 3 times (oh yeah … every time he blew the candle, he drooled on the cake.  yeah … he’s still drools, but not so much now)
  4. he refuse to eat anything during the party
  5. he was crazy playing with the pop crackers

We took some pictures.  I will upload them when hubby downloads them from his phone 🙂

Zayan’s 2nd birthday coming up

Zayan’s turning 2 next week.  On the 17th to be exact.  His dad’s gonna get him a cake with a picture of his favourite super hero.  I’m not sure which as he goes crazy over Ultraman, Spiderman, and Superman.  We might have to resort to showing his pictures of the 3 super heroes and get him to decide which one he likes most.  So, yeah, I’ll browse for the pictures in a bit and show him tonight.

Mom’s coming

Yeay!  Mom’s coming for a week’s stay.  She’ll be arriving tonight.  I’m sure she misses her grandkids as she doesn’t see them often.  This will be a great time for her and the kids to know each other more 😛

Maternity belt does ease the pain

Lately, I’ve been experiencing discomfort and pain around my belly and back, particularly the lower back.  There are many nights when I have difficulty sleeping.  I’m pretty heavy now and it feels as if I’m ready for delivery.  haha …

The belt is by Oppo, a brand from UK.  It is well respected among medicine physicians and physiotherapists.

Anyway, my darling hubby got me a maternity belt yesterday from the pharmacy at the Sime Darby Medical Centre. The belt costs RM54.00.  It’s cheaper than some places selling maternity belts and it’s very basic.  I found a site selling the same belt at RM59.00.  I vaguely remember a belt from another brand selling at over RM100.00.  For me, Oppo feels great and it does it’s job just well.

There’s a post I found about maternity belts and why pregnant women are experiencing back pain towards the end of their pregnancy.  Read here.

Pregnant moms, if you feel uneasy around your abdomen, I would suggest getting a belt.  It works wonders.  I feel happy I have one to ease the discomforts throughout the day.

Take care!

The t.w.i.n.s are boys

I’m back to work today.  I took leave yesterday for my monthly checkup.

On my last visit, I found Dr. Siti keeping her hair long.  She’s keeping it long to look younger, she said.  Hehehe …  All these years, she’s been having short hair.  On this visit, Dr. Siti had her hair curled and she does look prettier and YOUNGER!

I was alone.  Hubby had a 3pm appointment and couldn’t make it.

Dr. Siti did the ultra sound and told me that the babies are ok.  No anomaly found.  Both babies’ weight are in the 500 gm range.  By now, the babies are in their 22nd week.

Then she asked whether I’d like to know the sex.  Both are boys.  Oh my god, boys!  I was quite disappointed, but I knew my mother-in-law would be.  She’s been wanting to have a granddaughter for ages.  With the twins, she’s got 7 grandsons.  Oh well, just not my luck/rezeki.  I won’t be having any more babies after this.  I’ve decided to close shop.  Maybe later, a few years later, if I’m still yearning for a daughter, I will adopt one.  A baby girl.  Yup, I guess that’s what I’ll do.  It’s alright for me to take another’s baby and call it my own.

Dr. Siti also prescribed Calcium Caltrate which replaces the Calcium Lactate.  With Calcium Lactate, I need to take 2 tablets.  With Calcium Caltrate, I would only need to take 1 tablet.  It comes with Vitamin D for easier absorption.

My expected due date is mid of March.  We discussed on having the delivery by the 3rd week of February.  That’s about 37th week.  This is to avoid from rupture.  She also explained that I would need to take an injection by 32 week to mature the babies’ lungs.

Earlier on, hubby and I discussed to have the delivery done on special dates in relation to the number 8.  I’m born on the 8th.  He’s born on the 17th.  1 plus 7 equals 8.  Our two boys are also born on the 17th.  We thought of setting the delivery date to 26th of February.  Now, if Dr. Siti says that it should be within the 3rd week of February, then that would most probably be 17th instead of the 26th.  In short, I will be the odd one in the family: the only female and the only one born on the 8th.  hahahaha …

Well, that’s all for now.  Au revoir!

Requirements gathering workshop

Dear all,

I’ve been silent last week.  I’ve been pretty busy with requirements gathering workshops last week.

We are to revamp 2 existing applications that our client has been using for 12 and 8 years respectively.  So there’s a lot of good features that we need to maintain in the new applications.  The client have decided to revamp the applications as their direction is to have all applications to be on SharePoint platform – “To establish a scalable platform for communication, collaboration and knowledge exchange among employees”.

I’d like to share one website that talks about software requirements and I find it a good reference.
